Flipped Classrooms: Week 5

Flipped Classrooms       Now, right off the bat, you may be asking yourself, what is a flipped classroom? A flipped classroom is a lesson given beforehand, whether on PowerPoint, Google Slides, Google Classroom, etc. and then coming into class and discussing what was or should have been looked over beforehand.        I personally see an advantage to this style of learning. although it is not widely practiced, I think I could use this with some minor adjustments. First of all, although they are supposed to read or look over the chapter before class, I would do a short quiz to know whether they are actually reading and looking over the assignment before class.  Then in class, we would do activities based on the lesson, it's practically two lessons in one which reinforces what they are learning in their heads in two ways, first they are just reading to comprehend, second they will do physical activity in class to associate actions wit...

Week 4: Blended Learning

What is Blended Learning?      Blended learning "is a term used to describe the way eLearning is being combined with traditional classroom methods and independent study." (Trainor)  So ideally blended learning is learning both in person face to face and online as well. Whether that's online reading assignments, quizzes, discussion boards, etc...        Now that we know what blended learning is, a question remains. Is it beneficial or not? Even after Covid-19 we still use technology a lot more than previously before. Almost everything we do in school now is digital. Which has a lot of pros and a lot of cons...

Week 3 Copyright and Privacy

The Significance of Copyright      Although copyright has been a part of our lives for centuries I feel like many of us don't know it exists or know much about it. I honestly never had any interest in concerning myself with copyright or learning about it. After reading about it and watching the short videos I can see that it does play a bigger role in our lives than we think, especially when it comes to education and what we use to teach. Copyright can be and probably is a big issue in the education program. Anything from songs you use in class, worksheets, lesson plans, and arts and crafts I feel like copyright plays a huge role when it comes to teaching. My mom is a teacher and she is constantly online looking for lesson plan ideas and worksheets. I would think there's a lot of red tape when it comes to that and "stealing" the work and ideas of someone else and using it as your own.      This also can be a huge advantage to teachers who create their...
